They do say to take off specs and head covering (unless religious reason don’t permit  ) and be expressionless. Tbh not smiling is what I think they really mean.

Unshaven is fine

I thought the paper ones were no longer valid?
No they are still valid as long as you don’t move or change name. If you do either then I think they are free - otherwise you have to pay.

Do the police still do the "require to show" deal on documents at your local station within 2 weeks if you don't have them with you?
I guess so as how else do you prove it is you? And I assume if you only have a paper license you need some for of id to prove it’s you - like a passport? Not sure what you do if you don’t have a passport.

I've spent a couple of hours in the garage this morning.

I've loosely fitted the old rad frame (ie bolts in but not tight) and fitted the new rad and fitted the final two hoses to the rad. (new frame hasn't come in yet - 4 day delivery was quoted - so you have been here last week- but I can get the frame out again easy enough when it does arrive)

Fitted the new fuel pump. Reconnected the fuel lines. Fitted the starter cables (Mines a pre-engaged starter so has 2 wires  - standard are bendix type.)

Filled it with oil.

Made a "spade" drive from a bit of bar I "borrowed" from my Dad - span up the oil pump (Backwards on the drill :P) and that developed a nice amount of pressure - you could feel it as it pressurised the system - could also hear the oil coming out of various places - no obvious oil in the cam - but it was very oily in there from the filling process!

I don't think I will do another drill run before starting - as I've taken a good half an hour to get the dizzy in - which I still haven't achieved :?

I can't get the pedestal back in again - the dizzy drive is lined up perfectly and in good mesh - and the right orientation to get the rota arm to line up in the usual place. It looks like the hole it too small for it - which it can't be as it came out! Not sure the best way of getting it back in - heat on the block was one thought? Or the pedestal in the freezer?

So I've given up for today - was getting a bit cold and a bacon butty was offered ;)

If you don't you just know it will have a couple of spots that you missed - and whilst no one else will see them, you will everytime you go in the bathroom

(I wallpapered the lounge ceiling some years ago and got to the end and the pattern didn't line up with the wall as you walked into the room - so took it all down and did it again, but started from the other end to make sure it was parallel.)

yeah I hate decorating tbh. Paint is bad enough but if it wants wall paper its a job for the professionals IMHO for the very reason if you mess up a tiny bit it drives you mad for years. I even washed the fleet this afternoon

Got to play with the new RR Velar offroad @ Eastnor ... it's an extremely capable machine even with no low range ... it cruised through with ease ... like the head up display and screens ... pretty cool too !

It's a serious amount of cash though for what it is - though I am speaking from the side street given I've not seen one in the flesh!

Good to see you pop in though Deano :thumbright:

Finally got the engine in the spitfire running today.

Finally got the new radiator frame - seemingly the last one in the country. And got the radiator fitted today, the starter fitted, water/antifreeze filled up - plugs fitted - timing done statically.

Sounds really nice. The new exhaust isn’t loud at all. But has a nice tone to it.

The only thing I’ve forgotten to do is top the carbs dash pots with oil. Which probably explains why it’s a bit missy when reved :headbang:
