Re: Coolant temp and oil temp problems
In case it helps, for anyone changing this themselves I managed to change mine without dropping more than a teaspoon of oil. The engine must be fully cold to keep the oil slow. You'll need to be in a position to get both hands at the sensor, so that eventually you can cover the mount hole with your ...

Re: heater blowers
Looks like you have waited for a while for a reply, so on the off chance you're still looking for one, the delay in running the fans appears to be intentional as mine has done this from new. If I had to guess, it's waiting for a glimmer of heat from the engine before it gently blows humid air from o...

Re: AMK compressor fault
I'm afraid I don't have an AMK compressor and have never seen one, however if I had to guess based on the gauge of the red and white wires I'd assume that these don't just go to the bolt, but to a thermistor hidden under the bolt - this would be used to detect the temperature of the pump casing. The...

Re: Replacing the Low Pressure Pump in the fuel Tank
OK, so it's all done. I found that if you remove the mechatron from the gearbox there's a hell of a lot more fluid comes out! I did find this weird warning about using the old filler hole : Capture.JPG I've been struggling to think how that level of oil can be a problem, and it's taken me a while to...

Re: First Car..........
I agree that it sounds like the importance is overrated as any sensible person who is aware of their abilities can find somewhere easier/safer to park, but on balance I do think some basic level of parking skills are required. I saw a car when I was in my teens try and drive into a standard car park...

Re: First Car..........
Sorry to hear she failed again, but as long as she learns from each experience rather than letting it get to her it can just be an annoyance rather than a bad thing. As already said the examiner on the day can make a big difference, so better luck next time. I did not consider myself a particularly ...

Re: What have you done to your D3 this week?
Yeah Ian, it's been leaking from the round seal that surrounds the electrical plug. i cleaned everything with brake cleaner and it continued seeping from just there. My best guess (as the IID stops reporting transmission oil temp at 128C and was just reading Hi for 15 minutes after) is I managed to ...

Re: Replacing the Low Pressure Pump in the fuel Tank
Yes, I suppose the new sump plate filler projects up a fair way; I guess it could be the same. I wonder why the drain plug is not at the lowest point on the new sump though.
Probably not important. Thankyou!

Re: Replacing the Low Pressure Pump in the fuel Tank
That's reminded me of a question I had - that sump is designed to hold less fluid (as shown by the fact it has it's own fill point) but why can you not still use the level based on the side fill plug? The 'box would allow that extra depth of oil as long as the old fill plug level is not exceeded, so...

Re: Replacing the Low Pressure Pump in the fuel Tank
Indeed I did Mark, but now I've seen them again I'm replacing the items in pics 20 and 24 as well as the sump and filter. I won't have all that loverly headroom though - chestroom only for me
