That’s about it. But that’s fine. Makes reversing easy as you can see the end of the car 😂

Going to give it a service Sunday and a once over.

Well, Cassie, failed her test on Friday - Proper shame as she is not a bad driver and just made a couple of mistakes, that frankly no one on here hasn't done. (Classed as serious , though not IMHO) - Day before she did a practice test and was completely clear.

Anyway, moving onwards and upwards, I've insured the car in her name to practice on her provisional licence - only £110 for two months - which is the sort of money I paid for an overlay insurance on Janes car. I've done it for two months because the earliest test I could get is in about 5 weeks :( - I am going to look for cancellations though.

Shame that, but she is in good company, most of us failed it once. "choosing a safe place to park" is the one that caught me out in 1981. Lauren got a cancellation after two weeks, but you have to be flexible on timing, so keep Cassie practicing every day

I failed first time too !

Didn't go out Monday night or last night (She had a lesson yesterday so did have some practice and went around THAT island) - but only because I've re-fixed the back window hinges - common fault which had been repaired at least twice
before - once with epoxy and once with I think some sort of silicon. And as most of the hinging is done by the adhesive joint it has to be flexible - so I've used Sikaflex but did one side at a time to make sure it would work, hence the two days. Will be out tonight though. :thumbright:

I’m with Dom. Crash test rating is my number 1 priority, that said you do need to do more than just look at the number of stars because you get extra points for things like pedestrian safety, which is not why I’m looking at the ratings. Equally I’d consider a defender to be relatively safe because of how solid they are but it’s not going to have a lot of the safety features that a newer car has.

Statistically the Defender has a very good record - but it's largely due to the fact that it isn't fast, isn't driven by lunatics and a little dent just adds character.

And what you hit is the crumple zone.

I figure that if the car in in insurance group 1 or 2, it has to be considered pretty good. I'm happy with the car and happy that she will be as safe as she can be in a small car.
