Advanced factors

Post by countrywide » Mon Jul 14, 2014 8:23 pm

Thanks again to Steve.

Had to change the discs and pads on the dog van, ordered all the bits which arrived within a couple of hours via one of his vans (advantage of not being far away).

Opened the box and it turns out police spec vehicles have bigger brakes !!!. No problem for Steve, he finds out the size and replacements arrive on the afternoon van and I was able to fit them after work this evening.

Stopping power has been returned, which is just as well as SWMBO was going to use the Discovery

Too right

Still need to regenerate the DPF though as it is 92% full. Not a pleasant experience, you connect laptop, tell it to regenerate and the car revs to over 3K and starts putting more fuel into the exhaust to heat it all up to make it soot.

Lasts about 10 minutes during which time you think it will blow up.

Isn't there a way to clean the dpf with a pressure washer?

There is but I have to take it off, so this is easy albeit slightly worrying.

They are stupid things, spend more time on the motorway trying to clear it wasting fuel. But it's good the environment apparently.
