Torque Converter Recon

Post by Bigcarpchaser » Tue Sep 10, 2013 9:18 am

In case anyone is interested, had this email. This will obviously mean removal of unit and getting it to them however, seems to be a recurring issue these days for vehicles coming up to 100k miles.
Had "The judder" myself but seems to be cured (temporarily?) by change of oil and some dr tranny but even so, thought this was a decent price.
It will still mean getting box out and back in again and being off the road for a few days. No idea how that compares to putting a new one in,

Hi Gary

We can recondition your unit for £198.00 + vat + carriage £10.75

Regards

I asked them a week or so for a ball park price.

They said:-
New £430+Vat
Recon £238+Vat

The chap mentioned that the best bet was the New due to the number of hours needed to to do the swap.

I am getting WD to pony up for mine in the next week or so.

Bristol Transmissions will remove and replace TC (Refirb'd) for £850 if you mention the club.

Question is how long are people planning on keeping the D3 before deciding New to Recon, plus also the Warrenty. What is the difference between the two.
