Tool Pool
How about an essential tool pool. The type of tools like timing belt pins, fan hub removal tool, and even today I bought a puller. It would need somebody to store/maintain/clean and dispatch, sometimes these tools are the difference between doing the job yourself or sending to LR.

Re: Tool Pool
Jason, This has been discussed before and I think it wasn't particularly an issue within the committee. I just think it never happened as nobody ever got a list of things together.
So if we want to start a list here then I'll look into getting the committee to agree and sorting the bits out.

Re: Tool Pool
I am happy to donate my locking pin kit, as long as my mate who does my timing belt can borrow it any time he needs it as well.
I'll start the list:
32mm hub nut 1/2 socket
Viscous fan spanner and locking tool

Re: Tool Pool
Maybe a directory of who has what or willing to lend.
Don't think it's in the members interest to buy tool kits IMHO.

Re: Tool Pool
dependant on how much it costs to send it round I think is quite a good plan

Re: Tool Pool
I don't think we are talking tool kits, but simply some of the more Disco 3 and 4 specialized tools. It will go before the committee to decide, but its good to get an idea of what members want.

Re: Tool Pool
I think perhaps a bit of both. I agree that we shouldn't be looking at buying full scale tool kits but a directory of who has what & willing to lend plus perhaps the odd specialist tool belonging to the Club would seem to be a happy medium.Neild wrote:Maybe a directory of who has what or willing to lend.

As Stu has already said, let's have a look at this as a Committee and see what we can come up with. We should also look seriously at Jason's offer to store/maintain/clean and dispatch anything the Club did purchase.

Re: Tool Pool
Well that could be covered by the member that needs the tools. PayPal to Club funds the postage out, and obviously they return back.benp wrote:dependant on how much it costs to send it round I think is quite a good plan
