Advanced Notice - Major Software upgrade.
The forum software is quite along way behind the current version - and as such is not supported by the authors so it is planned to upgrade to the latest version.
There are a number of reasons for doing this, other than just to keep up.
One of the major ones, is that there is an addtional program that can be installed (Called a MOD, but essentially a program non-the less) that will allow the databases to be backed up automatically. Currently this manual and relies on one of the admins to remember to do it.
I have already tested the upgrade on a backup installed on my own server and it worked fine, but it does take some time to complete and sort all the little things that don't get automatically upgraded. Around 3 hours or so.
The exact date and time has yet to be decided, but is likely to be 8th June late in the evening.
It will mean the forum is not available for the time it takes to upgrade.
Further reminders will be posted nearer the time.

I'm sure we can live without the forum for an evening, but starting at 1am is OTT.

I don't think it's unreasonable to be honest, we pay for the service and as a result I would expect the up-time to be kept to an absolute maximum. The fact it's inconvenient for the webteam is neither here nor there to be honest.

Re: Advanced Notice - Major Software upgrade.
Well, I wasn't planning on doing it during peak times, but at the same time, I wasn't going to do it at a stupid time, like 1am to be honest.
The webteam, largely me, doesn't get paid to do it, and pays like everyone else to me a member of the club.
But if you don't want things to improve, then I can just as easily leave well alone and just hope the servers don't crash and all the data lost.
I vote you do it then Neil

You can do it whenever, have it down for the next 2 weeks - I'm getting married Sunday and I'm off to Kenya for two weeks after that so it doesn't affect me!
