Merry Christmas and Seasonal Greetings to all :gift:

As Stu said in opening this thread - a year ago, this web site was probably still in its design stage on the back of a fag packet and there were just a small number of us (predominantly South of Watford) with vague ideas of building a club based family friendly fraternity around off road events for D3 & 4 owners and enthusiasts. We were also very much aware then that the eyes of the other Forum would be upon us when we eventually launched and that there would be many of them that would be waiting to criticise everything we did and wish us to fail miserably.

The fact that we now have 100 or so financial members is a testament that so far we must have got most things right. However, many of you may be surprised to know that the Committee members are in touch with each other most days of the week either fine tuning the way that we do things or looking at ways to provide more for club members.

We've run some successful events in the last 9 months since launch and now that our membership is becoming more widespread geographically means that we have more of an opportunity to run events in locations further afield such as the Midlands and further North. Whilst this hopefully in itself will encourage membership growth in all areas of the country, we can't lose sight of the fact that we need members in good numbers to commit to attending events when they are in the planning stage. Generally, we need 20 cars or thereabouts each paying around £30 to secure the exclusive use of a Pay & Play site for a day and for the Club to break even. Anyway, we already have the Snowdonia weekend event to look forward to at the end of January, Tong after that, Durler Belgium and others in the pipeline.

We have a great membership, we have a great forum and many of our members have become firm friends with others due to both events and the forum. Long may it continue - the Club is its membership! :thumbright:
