It's my education, I was non conformist way back then too. Got me this far in life being a thicko. Mortgage free at 39, not bad for a dumb ass aye. My teachers said I'd come to nothing, funny really when 2 are doing time for under age offences.
To be fair, your spelling is no better than many on here - our Chairman in particular is noted for it!

And just because you can't spell doesn't automatically make you a thicko.

My spelling isn't great, I'm pretty sure I'm dislexic at some level (why is a word like dislexic so hard to spell!)

Although I do tend to type quickly often on my iPhone or pad and rarely bother to read what I've written as my view is this is like chatting to your mates down the pub so it doesn't really matter. I spend a bit more time rereading things for work etc.

Spelling is not a measurement of intelligence. Neither is education actually sure someone with a 1st from Cambridge in Maths is intelligent but it doesn't mean the builder living next door to him isn't, it just means he didn't go to Cambridge. Having said all of that two of the most intelligent people I know went to Cambridge. I certainly wouldn't swap my life with one of them though!

Education is important to give you the platform and freedom to do what you want to do with your life if your happy with your life then that's the most important thing.

I have to say I feel happy and comfortable with where I am now. I certainly wouldn't have the job I have without my education, so that path has worked for me, but its not right for everyone.

Define education.

The current trend is that everyone should go to University and get a degree and if you don't then you won't get a decent job. And you have failed in life.

That, in my view, is total rubbish as not everyone, especially these days, wants to go to further education or Uni due to the costs (No everyone wants a loan for £25-100K when then come out) or they simply aren't into that sort of education.

There is nothing wrong with learning a trade via apprenticeships or simply going to work. Still education.

Completely agree Mark.

Nothin wrong whatsoever. I know a few people who have left school at 16 gone into apprenticeships and now run their own successful companies.

Formal education just gives you more choices and for some jobs it is essential, all depends on what you want to do.

Most of the really successfull business people don't have high degree's etc, what they have is a much broader intelligence which means your adaptable and good at problem solving. Single subject intelligence is good for research and specific roles, but doesn't make you anymore intelligent for the rest. I have also found that people who are really good at one thing, tend to lack common reasoning abilities for everything else.

In Europe they value the skills of apprenticeships and trades and let's be honest a apprenticeship gives you actual job knowledge. A university degree still lacks that element, so you still have to teach them how to work.

We see far too many university graduates doing degree's in pointless subjects, but still think as a graduate they are more valuable than other candidates.

After 4-5 years education importance is actually second to experience and ability to do the job. But education is a good filter for employers trying to minimise risk when employing
people.

The one thing about Uni,is it is a lot fun though and you get a lot of knowledge about daytime TV
