Got the lamps last week but been a bit tied up with family matters so not had a chance for a real look at them yet... They look real chunky and quality looks OK with a ABS type body and stainless fittings etc. Not powered then up yet so will do a test against my Hella HID's asap. They are 7" which is what I thought I wanted but having now measured the Hella's and warn's they are 5". This to me is the right size for the rack as I don't want them sticking up above the top extrusion.
7" is the same size as the LR driving lights so I shall use these on the A bar to replace the LR fag buts and carry on my search for 5" HID's for the new rack.
Hella are now doing a unit with built in ballasts which LRE are using on their support vehicles and they look absolutely brilliant. I did not dare ask how much they are....
Cheers, Richard.

I got them from Frogs Island as they were a bit cheaper than Devon 4x4 ... not much in it though !

Potential thread resurrection award here, but I've recently acquired a set of LF170 HIDs and am looking for an idiots guide to installing them please???

They're already mounted to the A-Bar on the front of my D4 but it's what I need to do next that baffles me. I have the harness and a simple on/off/on switch, but what/where next? I have an aux battery in the second battery box at the front if required.

As said, it needs to be an idiots guide...I've no experience with electrics...so pictures will definitely help. Perhaps some of a similar install!!!!

So, I have zero experience and no knowledge on this at all.

but I did find this

https://topix.jaguar.jlrext.com/topix/c ... oupId=1662

If the link does not point to anything (you may need to be registered with TOPix) then take a look in the 'Accessory Fitting' section, and in there, the 'Auxiliary lighting' sub section. There are guides for 'drive lamp kit' and drive lamps - bumper'.

Hope that is of some use at all.

kind regards

Andy

Andy, that guide is really only applicable if you use the LR kit of parts - though other than that should work ok - but until you've done one it doesn't look the easiest unless it is obvious which plug to use - though it seems to be loose?

@Bodsy might be the best one to ask.

Hi AF.

I know, but my thought process was that it at least demonstrated the routing of cables and also where the LR kit wired into things.

Therefore possible to extrapolate where to connect into for 3rd party solutions?

That was the logic anyway.

As I said, no knowledge of this stuff, but worth a mention to at least get things moving.
