Re: New CB...recommendations...?
surely just a nice burner (linear amplifier) would help? http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/amplifiers ... ifier.html

Re: New CB...recommendations...?
That burner is for different frequencies - amateur ones. Though it might work if 10M band is close enough.
But again, unless everyone else has the same sort of power, then it won't help much
Dom,
You can get hand held CB's that would do what you want. Or a receiver that covers the 27Mhz band. Some wide band radios will work. But might be cheaper to get a CB.

Re: New CB...recommendations...?
when I was a lot younger my friend had a burner that he said was 1000w - I've no idea of the actual power output but it would set off car alarms, burglar alarms and also once completely reset the forecourt fuel pump computer! Wouldn't recommend one like that although it was funny at the time

My choice, very flexible and solid…

A lot of members in Luxembourg have it.
For long distance you can think to buy a UHF/VHF transmitter.
Also a good supplier:

Yeah, the big burners would knock out loads of stuff - TV's and all sorts - which is why there are limits on the power output.MrClayton wrote:when I was a lot younger my friend had a burner that he said was 1000w - I've no idea of the actual power output but it would set off car alarms, burglar alarms and also once completely reset the forecourt fuel pump computer! I do remember at school before it was legal, that some of my friends on AM CB's were chatting to some guys in Birmingham,
Alabama!
Was a particularly good year for the sun spots which affect propogation.

I've got the midland 48, whilst it can't be updated (not that I've looked), 4w is more than sufficient with a decent swr reading and decent aerial.
Your sirio twig is fine and with a rig that doesn't have its crystals fried! You should be fine.
Just remember to stop transmitting when you lose your next aerial.

Forgot to add, I also have the one roger linked to, you can easily switch it between in the car and portable.
