Flashaholics - Great service
Firstly, "Flashaholics" is not anything to do with men hanging around parks in long coats... so we can kill that direction for the thread straight away...
Was looking for a new, small torch. Took a look at a few online suppliers. Had a few questions on one torch and the recommended rechargeable batteries and charger...Called them at 14:45 and after a 10 minute conversation where I got clear, concise advice I placed an order. Got an e-mail order confirm at 15:03, and goods confirmed as dispatched at 16:02. And shipping is only £3.99 (torch, 2x rechargeable batteries, charger and belt holster).
Very friendly and very prompt

Re: Flashaholics - Great service
Liked this bit (My bold addition)Always keep the Torch in “Secured Mode” when in transport or storage.
(Turn tail-cap anti-clockwise until red O-ring is visible)
This will safeguard the Torch from accidental power on (risk of fire) and also make sure the
batteries will stay in good shape as there is no risk for low-current depleting.

Mark - anything using li-ion batteries has a risk of fire...and explosion. A li-ion battery needs to be treated with a bit of care (protection circuit or they will overheat from overcharging or too much discharge).
But the torch should make a great hand warmer in the winter

So it's a multi purpose tool: Torch or Hand-grenade.... You just don't know when it's going to turn from one to the other.....

Re: Flashaholics - Great service
I have a £3 torch from China that looks like a clone of the above and 4 Lithium batteries for £7 that included a charger.
One of the batteries had zero volts at delivery, and one of them had the heat-shrink on backwards so the + and - signs were at the wrong ends...are you suggesting that there's a chance it's not safe?

Just looked at my batteries - they're branded "Ultra-Fire"

Re: Flashaholics - Great service
I have some of the 'Ultrafire' batteries Dom. I'm sure it was a recommended purchase from .co.uk. I also rememember reading somewhere that you shouldn't leave them unattended in a charging or fully-discharged state, for risk of fire or explosion.
