you're only likely to be using them when parked up with engine off, so 12,6v probably. Your solar panel with it's controller should be similar (but check the controller output band)

But you are unlikely to have the lights on (except work lights I guess) when the sun is out.

To be honest, I really don't know! It depends on the led chips as to how well they survive the excess volts. Some will be fine, others will smoke quickly. If the heat is taken away through the back plate then it'll be better too. And it's possible there's a driver on board built in, though usually they state something like 10 to 36v if they have that built in. If you use them without the engine running you'll probably be ok, it's when the engine is running that the volts could climb too high for some...

Ahh yes, based on Stu's advice that you need bell wire for high current applications like winches so the electricity is forced to go faster in the smaller gap like water, leds can be protected by using 32mm welding wire so the electric moves nice and slow.

If you want to really slow it down then whack some fuses and relays in there, they always delay things.

If you make sure your wire is twists as well then that causes the electricery to go dizzy and it has to move slower.

Worry not Del, Stu is merely advising what to do to slow down the electrical imps so they can't burn out the new lights :thumbright:
