Spain / Italy possibly Portugal sites

Post by Stu » Tue Mar 22, 2011 8:25 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to plan our summer hols and looking to drive down to Spain or Northern Italy or possibly Portugal. Can anyone suggest any good campsites.

Criteria is:

Must be near the sea
Must have a nice pool
Must be family friendly i.e. kids play park etc.

That's about it really. So any good suggestions? Paul - anything around Barelona? Thinking of going in Sept so weather needs to be good then as well - which I think it should be in all the locations we're looking at.

Italy sites are all small pitches. But you will be OK in your Vango as it's the right shape.

Got a GREAT site in Florence if your route takes you that way. Pool is not huge, but OK for the kids. The view over florence is amazing! especially when you go into the showers early morning and come out (dressed of couirse) and see the sun shining down over the city. Nice walk into and around florence as well. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Florence is midish Italy isn't it? how long it take to drive that far. - daughters going to Uni there next year we think so we may have to take the kitchen sink and find a place for her to stay.

Thanks for the replies so far, flourence is probably as far as we'd want to go, possibly a little bit too far. Basically two days travel once in France is the maximum.

Nick, good to see you, I was only saying to mrs Stu earlier that i'd not seen you around and I needed to get in touch. Are you going to the next SAM?

It was a good distance down, Yes. About 4 or 5 hours from Lake Como ISTR (which has the tiniest pitches and quite expensive)
Then we went from Florence to Southern Umbria and stayed in a great farmhouse with a huge pool! Even though it was for one family! :thumbright:

I have all Emma's planning notes (and she can plan!) somewhere. Will try to dig them out.

Stayed at the same place as NSN, very good site, we went as part of a two site holiday rally with the CC, it's still in the 2011 holiday book as far as I can remember - goes and has a looks - yes page 146, right on a huge beach, Noja was a fair walk though.

From what I can see though they don't have pitches only the Eurocamp tents?

Loads of piches when we where there, the Caravan Club Holiday guide says 1000, but must included Eurocamp. It is a big site. £25 - £41 per night for 2 +van, kids £4 ,

We then went on to Le Pavillon Royal near Biarritz still on right on the beach.
