We bought some Tirrumissu ice-cream from Lidl when in Cornwall.

You lot really don't do yourselves justice. There is some stuff in Lidl and Aldi which is better quality and a load cheaper than your average Scoopermarkup including M & S. :surprise: A great place for fresh fruit and veg too.... :rasp:

You just need to be brave enough or have lived in Holland / Germany etc to realise that over there they are one of THE places to shop. :thumbright: Ask the Vice Chairman, I'm sure he'll agree...... :thumbright: :thumbright:

I wouldn't be without either (we have both here in Aylesbury) so I'm happy.

TBH I think a lot of the stuff in Lidl and Aldi in Europe is better than you get over here - but things like the jams and icecream are generally better and cheaper - though the Jam in our supermarkets has improved 1000% since the invasion of the foreign shops. I remember going to Germany in the 80's and having jam with fruit all the way down the jar, when over here it was mostly the jelly.

They also have a better variety of packet soups- daft thing is that they are made by companies such as Knorr so its a marketing decision more than anything else!

I know the buyer for Fruit and Veg for Lidl. I've never met anyone so passionate about good quality produce. We don't shop in Lidl but I'm confident that fruit and veg would be very good. Lidl also look after their staff. I don't know exactly what he earns but it's a decent wage and lovely Audi A6 company car. Although he does work hard.
