Re: Suspension Fault
So I finally got the hose off and have swapped the compressor over.
Once it was all connected and the bracket secure, I updated the firmware to the AMK one.
However, I'm constantly now getting the following fault with the new compressor;
C1A20-64 (AF) Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
( at 173886 km )
Any chance this is an installation fault, or more likely a problem with the compressor? Where's the air intake on them?

Re: Suspension Fault
Is it a new compressor Dave? I guess it is if you have the AMK one - but if the pressure was completely out of the system, it may just be taking a bit of time to refill.

Re: Suspension Fault
It sounds odd, but the compressor relay really does need changing at the same time as the compressor (and indeed I change mine every other year now 'just in case'. Did you change that also?
If your relay is old it could be getting hot and making the compressor run slower, longer and therefore hotter...

Re: Suspension Fault
When I got my new compressor it came with a new relay as part of the kit.

Re: Suspension Fault
Thanks guys - no new relay (was a second hand spare Bodsy's lent me).
I had seen the requirement for a new relay on other instructions but wasn't sure exactly what circumstances that referee to.
So I assume it's not just a 'new' relay that's needed, but a newer version?
Where (other than LR) could I source one?
In terms of the error, it happens so instantaneously that I can't get from the faults clearing screen to live values before it faults.
Suggest something like the relay is indeed the culprit if it's unable to engage at all?

Re: Suspension Fault
Dave,
I don't have a new style compressor, so I don't know for sure, but AFAIK the fuse is the same and I can't see the relay being different spec to the original. It's new and clean unpitted contacts you need.

Re: Suspension Fault
Hmm not sure then.
I'll have a further play tomorrow, possibly try reflashing again, and maybe even try going back to the Hitachi software (as I understand it still works with that?).
Failing that I'll need to swap it back out with my old one as that only seemed to throw a fault when venting.

Re: Suspension Fault
Steve at Advance factors does the relay. I'm not sure why it has to be changed. I guess some part of the spec changed? It's not as though a relay does a lot though so who knows.

Re: Suspension Fault
They recommend changing it because when the compressor goes it often overloads the relay and it can burn the contacts.
If the relay is ok, it is fine to leave it in and change at your leasure (But I would change it!)
If Bodsy's was an Hitachi, then the firmware should be flashed to suit it. If it is an AMK then it should be flashed to that.
Do a vehicle reset (Its in one of the IID tool menu's. Does the same thing as shorting the battery essentially - but you keep your hands clean.
