D3 airbag light

Post by Hippy_1978 » Wed Feb 06, 2019 5:54 pm

Hi All,

Hopefully you can point me in the right direction late last year the airbag light stayed illuminated on the dash board, my local garage cleared the fault code and it stayed off.

Last weekend it came on again this was when going over some rough and uneven ground. Before I take it back down to the garage is there anything I can check myself as in wondering if I’ve lossened something. It’s s D3 06 plate. I’m not the most mechanical person in the word so apologies if I come back with further daft questions

Cheers
Matt

The one in the steering wheel is connected via the clockspring I think and they do go yampy at times - though normally it's the push buttons for the cruise etc that go?

@Bodsy might be able to throw some more light on it.

Happened on my Sprinter. It was the seat buckle that had a bad connection - maybe the microswitch within. On the Sprinter the seat buckle is connected to the airbag module. The module expects to see 400ohms when buckle is unlatched and 100ohms when latched - guess there is a small circuit of resistors within the buckle. If the airbag module sees a short or open connection it assumes an error with the buckle and the airbag lamp comes on.

Maybe the same thing on the disco? Error codes?
