Rear Diff Swap

Post by z4cAtS » Sat Jun 08, 2019 10:17 am

Hello.
I have a replacement diff to swap into my D3 and am looking for any tricks or tips that would help?

Main questions:-
  • What is the best way to drop the exhaust?
  • Driveshaft removal
  • Refitting - rear or front bolt first

Will be getting new bolts for prop and diff, probably also for lower hub.

Thanks

Exhaust is easy. There is a slip joint around where the compressor lives. Then the there is a hanger each side and then I think around the slip joint. Possibly one more.

I've removed and replaced mine on my own on the drive - but two people makes it easier!

As for the rest - I bet Bodsy or Stu would know (I think Stu did his rear diff before a Salisbury some years ago?)

Thanks.
Did you have any issues with the two back bolts?
