Re: Bodsy's Brake Bible
Just changed my RH front brake calliper bracket as one of the slider pins wasn't sliding very well and I have got a slight squeal when NOT braking. Braking effort now reduced but squeal still present. Discs hvae life left but are lipped to a degree and the pads have become shaped to the lip a bit. I'm assuming that this now leaves me needing to fit new pads and discs to get rid of the squeal?? Or might I have a knackered calliper? Excessive brake dust on RH wheel so washed this when I changed the calliper bracket so I could see if there was any improvement?

Re: Bodsy's Brake Bible
Did you copper slip them ? bled the brakes properly? get someone to press the pedal while you have it on the stands and see how the disc runs but it does sound like you need new bits tbh

Yep, copper slip on all 4 corners. New brake fluid done at stealers recently. Just trying to avoid putting new discs and pads on only to have them trashed by a dodgy calliper!

Re: Bodsy's Brake Bible
Changed my front disks and pads this morning - all with the help of the excellent BBB
Just one comment Ian, you mention that you might have to remove the flexi pipework bracket to remove the top double hx bolt - in my experience today, no question! So, could you mention that bit before the caliper is removed as taking the bracket off first is a lot easier than trying to do so with the caliber hanging
And also add the wheel nut torque in the pad replacement section - I just printed that section out and had to refer to the copy on the PC to find the setting.

Re: Bodsy's Brake Bible
Just changed the rear brakes on mine and adjusted the EPB - Brill guide Ian. however, the torque of 6nm was a guess as mine small wrench doesn't go that low only 10
And the 4mm allen key out of the pro set is too wide to go in the hole - so used a normal one
Took ages to get the one piston back in the caliper - hopefully it is ok - "spin" ok with just the lightest "drag" well shoosh noise. Interestingly the pads came with the sticky backs, whereas the fronts didn't when I changed them.

Re: Bodsy's Brake Bible
Ian, a question.
What do you use to push the pistons back into the caliper? I was using a large set of grips - but they don't push square on so take a bit of time to work.
There is obviously a special tool for this, but what is it and is it worth getting - or is there an alternative.

Re: Bodsy's Brake Bible
Funnily enough, that is one thing I don't have - other sorts of clamps, but not G
