It was the "other home made device" that puzzled us as we couldn't find what this home made device should be. But after reading the forum we saw a mention of a plumbers wrench thing but that didn't work for us and we couldn't purchase a piston caliper rewind tool at the time.

As a suggestion, I think the brake bible should also have a section on the EPB emergency procedure and the resetting of the EPB after that as it took a bit of googling for us to discover that it just worked again after the cable had been pulled. It stopped working again very quickly after that but at least we didn't have to take the brakes apart to undo the emergency cable use!

I have carriedout the V8 disc/carrier conversion front and back of my G4 only to have the rear nearside epb brake cook it self (half melted plastic plug).

I bought new EPB shoe kit from landrover (had to get it sorted pronto) but the kit (which LR said was the same for standard and V8 discs?) had a couple of springs in each pair of brake shoes, labelled RH & LH. as well as the heavy duty and tighter duty tension springs for the top and bottom I have put pictures of the extra springs in my gallery. the RH one is green and the LH is brown - does anyone know if I need these and if so where they go as they are not mentioned in the king bodsy bible on brakes

grateful for all sensible responses!

cheers
dave

Ignore them Dave, they're for another model. Might be évoque or something, but not needed for yours.

thanks for the prompt reply :notworthy:

I will add them to my box of 'things I have no use for but can't bear to throw away as it might be useful one day'

once I have done the offside I will carry out the 'bedding in procedure and remove my duct tape safety cover from the EPB switch

cheers

That will be really helpful for a lot I guess. Any plans for more languages? Might need to do one in the queens English for the southern contingent.

I agree Clive. I got a free pdf copy of a book but it didn't work nearly as well on my iPad or kindle as I wanted so I paid the £6 for the proper kindle version. I reckon if it was £1.49 or something then it would sell - the major bonus being it'd be opened up to a much wider audience.
