Air Con Pipe Leak
Hello,
The D3 has been diagnosed with an air-con pipe leak today. Looks like it is by the NSF wheel arch which is where I believe the front to rear pipe goes? Does anyone know of a reputable Surrey based mobile air-con chap?
Thanks in anticipation...

Re: Air Con Pipe Leak
Sorry I can't help with recommending an A/C chap, but just wanted to say that I remember reading that some peeps have had these replaced with flexible pipes, rather than the LR ones

I have read that too and that's probably what I'll do, or just get the section cut out.

Re: Air Con Pipe Leak
I seem to recall that that corner is a repeat offender for aircon failure, either due to corrosion or metal fatigue. If there's room for it I'd assume that a flexible pipe would prevent either one of those issues reoccurring in future?

Re: Air Con Pipe Leak
I had a fault at the same point, there's a post somewhere on it.
I replaced (the mobile aircon guy actually did the work ) it with a genuine part, sourced from TLO.
However, the system has not held its gas for more than a couple of months since then. Its going in tomorrow for another try at sorting it.
This may be more to do with who fixed it for me though, I didn't get the impression he knew much about D3's despite his claims to the contrary. i.e. he didn't know that the air compressor needed to be removed to replace that pipe. I had to provide details for him on how to do that.
Mine is going to another garage tomorrow, so I can't make any recommendations. I'm also in two minds about cutting off the rear aircon anyway, it seems of little benefit to me.
A flexible fix may be a good option if possible at it may be possible to fix without removing the air compressor. I don't know how the flexible ones work though as there is quite a vacuum within that pipe.
Best of luck with it though hope it gets sorted.

Re: Air Con Pipe Leak
I booked Auto Air Conditioning for next weekend (I read about them on another forum). The guy I spoke to seemed to be familiar with the D3. He asked about the rear air con and then went on to say that the leak is probably in 1 of 2 places. NSF wheel arch was one of them, spot on, that's where mine is. Anyway, he has ordered the pipes and is coming out to replace them. He knew that he would have to lower the air suspension compressor so hopefully he knows what he is doing (unless of course it's your guy and he remembers what you showed him ).

Re: Air Con Pipe Leak
Gary from Auto Air replaced the pipes and did all the other bits too. Very reasonable price, good work and clean and tidy. Top bloke.

Re: Air Con Pipe Leak
I know this is an old thread, but has anybody had a leak from rear aircon looking as though it is coming from the the water leak off pipe dripping onto the rear mudflaps?

Re: Air Con Pipe Leak
Yes, hanging on in there Pumba.
Would anyone know if the leak over the rear diff area is normally just the 'O' ring in the joint or the pipe itself, same question goes for the joint just behind the air reservoir? Seems to be a bit wet in those places. Could really do with the aircon working here
