Re: Bodsy
They definitely monitor forums, eBay and autotrader. It's mostly done on telephone number and email scanning in adverts. If it pops up a lot, they start to look.
Somebody I know got investigated as a car dealer as a result of selling lot's of cars and his number popping up a lot.

are you sure, last time i checked it was 64k as i was very close to having to be registeredStu wrote:Jason not sure how someone with a full time job and family commitments could run another business that turned over more than £76,000 a year. (Which is roughly the current VAT registration threshold) by helping people out with some car issues, even if he was charging for it.

Re: Bodsy
It doesn't matter what the figure really is, if HMRC suspect something they will investigate and you need to prove you're innocence.

Re: Bodsy
I think they'll be others in the D3 world on the list before Bodsy..... Many on other forums would be first inline.... I wouldn't want to be on any Site supporters list to be honest. Many people making money and not declaring it, so easy to spot.
Tbh though, HMRC are not worried about small fry for the odd few 000's. it takes £40k to 'launch' and investigation into Ltd Co's and people... So they need to make sure they get payback, plenty of easy Essex types out there to grab
