Some interesting figures for Stu...
Farm where I store works kit / van etc has a weighbridge so I had a quick weigh yesterday. (Me not included..).
D4 + Van 4340 Kg D4 2860 Kg so Van 1480 Kg.
Max van total laden weight is 1500 Kg on the sticker so only 20 Kg under... This is on way to storage, so no clothes, food or drink on board. Also no chairs, table, BBQ etc which normally go in the car.
Assume this means we are usually over weight when on the move should we get stopped once all the above in. It's scary how easy it is to be over as I considered we travelled light and only weighed for fun...
I suppose dead weight is 2 gas bottles, motor mover, ZIP awning. Even the empty Water rolls & waste master all add up and consume the 200kg? odd allowance?
Going to have to cut down to only taking 100 bottles of Desaprado's and 5 litres of Gin...

Easy solution, use roof rack for beers,
Clem - Thinks he has the best job in the world - piloting Gift Island's robotic doughnut rings and listening to Hip Hop music in the cockpit all day

Re: Some interesting figures for Stu...
Overweight by whose reckoning? Remember the weight plate the caravan maker puts on means Jack Schitt. It's the weight that the chassis maker stamps on it, usually on the axle tube(s).
E.G. Our Coachman van has a makers weight plate of max 1900kg which is actually an upgrade we had to purchase. Now, if the normal is 1820 but we can "buy" a replacement plate for 1900 then that proves it's only there so certain cars can tow the thing. Checking on the axles they are 1000kg each, i.e. 2000kg, then add in the weight on the towball = 100kg so 2100kg all told. Tyres are 94 load index so 670kg each = 2680kg.
So the chassis can take it, the tyres can take it and the only reason the maker down plates it is so a large estate car can tow it. My FFRR can pull 3500kg as can your D4. Oh and I got this from VOSA on the M5 when he weighed us. They aren't interested in makers weight plates one bit.

This is all way too complicated, esp after a very liquid lunch.
If only I could think of something useful to type here!!
