General Grabber AT

Post by giu » Sun Mar 08, 2015 8:35 pm

Hi, I'm from Italy, I'd like to know your opinion about G Grabber AT, size 255/60 R18 for a Disco 3. I would run them as the main set and I am a bit worried for their performances on wet tarmac and fuel consumption (All Terrain). Thank you

Giu

They are a popular tyre in the UK - I've not had any, but no reports of any issues with the wet or ecomony - though if you worry about economy too much, you have the wrong car

My AT2s have done well over 50k and have more tread left on them than the likes of a brand new Wrangler.

Wish I could get another set of AT2s when this set wear out

I have AT's and they seem very good, haven't noticed any change from Pirelli ATR's apart from a possible reduction in fuel economy.

Thanks,
I think I'll buy GG AT (no AT2)......

I'll post my comments.

Got gg at on mine, been on now nearly 2 years and have covered approx 35k and still plenty of useable tread left, now after my experience of at2 on my d2 only lasting 17k was very skeptical about the at, but in reality I can't fault them.

The AT2s on my D3 have done 50k and still have plenty of tread left so I guess I've been very lucky. Wish they were still available

I have done about 20K on my GG ATs and other than the annoying droning noise they make at 55-60mph, they have been fine - well, I've not got stuck yet! They look good on the Discovery too.

Wear is pretty noticeable after running BFG ATs for 10+ years on other 4x4's. I guess they are a softer compound with road use compromising their wear resistance.

They are nothing like as smooth, quiet and comfortable as Continental 4x4 Contacts, but more capable off-road.

Would be interested to hear how people rate them when they get below 5mm tread depth....
