Awesome, I'll definitely have a go at this, thanks. :thumbright:

Do you happen to know the P/N for the non ashtray part and does it come with the 12V sockets? I know there is one on the standard part, but the other side has the drop down panel rather than the cover (not a deal breaker)

I like the bluetooth Aux connector idea, whats the volume like? I know plugging the iPhone headphone port directly to the aux is a bit feeble, I used one of the FIIO boosters to help give similar volumes to CD's [url]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kilimanjaro-Por ... iio+a3/url]
At that price I could put the bluetooth in line with this.

I just wish the high power ciggie socket ones were a bit more flush. It's a right PITA with the coffee cups.

I think it'd be worth my while to relocate my life-hammer out of that cubby to do this, great idea!

I'd also have to relocate all my "switched from the interior light console" power relays from the underneath section to put the second unit in, but that too is feeling like it suddenly needs doing

Nice How-to, cheers :thumbright:

Cobblers, I use a Bluetooth unit that looks like that (I can't say the same, there are many clones) and it's absolutely brilliant, fantastic quality sound and volume is good (when the bluetooth volume on my phone is at max). I think I paid out something extortionate like £4 for it

Cobblers - I'll have a look on the box at home for the part number this evening, they don't come with the power sockets, but IIRC they are only about a fiver from LR

Dom - I put my relay behind the H-Trim half way up the right hand side, doesn't look pretty with the H-Trim off but is a handy spot for it :thumbright:

Actually, I have 4 relays and a minu fusebox under there (don't tell Stu I wimped out and used fuses!)
I'm thinking of moving everything to behind the rear right hand panel where the lethal jack used to be kept, been on my dithering list for a while, so this could just swing it :thumbright:

Eventually I might just do that Clive, but for starters it'll all be set up and secured to a perspex plate slightly forwards of that cubbyhole. My fridge is the only "visible" output socket from the relays atm, so no real need...yet! As the switches on my interior light are only switching relays and powering LEDs I'm thinking of simply using cat 6 shielded cable to connect the two areas - can you see any issues with that? I'll be back in Stu's good books if I can use such thin wires 8-)

I can't see any probs with that - Stu would probably be happier if you used Cat5e, it's a little bit thinner than Cat6 :thumbright:

  Good call! I'll use that instead - I just need to glue ethernet sockets to each board to help with the connections and it'll plug/unplug whenever needed :thumbright:

I used Cat 5 to power the relay when I used to have a pair of lightforces at the front of the car. No problem with the power requirement at all.

I'll use an On - Off - On switch with a twin pole relay. That way,you can choose to power from the main battery with Ign on, or power from the Aux battery.

I did things slightly differently to Clive, but essentially the same, will post some pics in a minute. :thumbright:
