How to strip nav DVD player

Post by Bodsy » Wed Jan 13, 2016 3:08 pm

Ok, so I have a spare nav player and my own one also stopped working.
Do get No maps installed error or similar.

It's about £280 to get a refurbed one, so having a go at fixing myself.
Will probably PDF it up at some point and will do a wrote up here and elsewhere.

But for the moment, I'm trying to see if I can get one of these......

Needs to have the spindle with it as this one isn't removable from the optical head.
Any ideas?

Thought you had a D4 screen to avoid having to fix the DVD drive? Or is the lack of map updates doing your head in?

Well, the lack of new maps is definitely doing my head in, but I just thought if I can get a more cost effective way to fix the nav drives, then I can do a swap service on them. :thumbright:

By the way, did you clean the lens and regrease the rails/archimedes screw to see if that was the issue?
