Derek, the seat rail is aluminium and is a RLD ball. If you find not enough rigidity, then drill a pilot hole in both ball bracket and rail and it will be set like a rock.
Nice crumbs though, looks like plenty of McD's made that little lot

SWMBO's already told me to stop fiddling as I'll break it. She of little faith. Already moved the ball to mount the iPad in landscape. Not broken it, yet.

I've got a Brodit desk mount that I'm planning on self tapping to the top of the dash. It's on my very long to-do list

Haha, didn't I mention that?
in my defence I changed the winch rope hawse all on my own. Oh yeah and I've got a new phone charger to go in too. The whole thing should only take you a couple of hours
