I'd there a compressor change / service how to?

I thought Bodsy had done one? I need to remove my compressor, give it a clean up and also put some new silica in. Is there a guide or thread somewhere I can't find it.

As a tip with the links to Disco3 forum - just select it and right mouse click and open in new incognito window. Saves copying and pasting!

Perfect thanks.

Anyone got any tips on actually removing the thing. Last time I looked the top bolt looked impossible, I think Ken or Steve said a ratchet spanner was all that was required?

It is a bit of a cuss to get to that top bolt.
I used a ratchet spanner as I couldn't get to it properly with my socket set.

Getting it back on - I can see why it is sometimes forgotten.

Mine had a lot of corrosion where the dryer seats, and the o-ring was knackered, so have a spare to hand.

I've got to swop mine out - ordered new captive nuts and bolts last week - but haven't got back in time from work to pick them up :headbang:

Top bolt is easy - ram your hand up inside the cover and use a 6inch extension bar in 1/4 drive. Had mine off around 5 times now for various rebuild/service/test reasons!

I got the air suspension light and suspension fault msg. After using suspension a couple more times it told me suspension raising slowly and the front took an age to raise. It then said raising will resume when suspension motor cools down.

Ok now my question what do I need to fix it?

LR020590 is the compressor repair kit which is really cheap

Then on eBay there is a discovery 3 piston seal kit
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewit ... 1194404592" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which is not so cheap.

How do I know if I need a repair kit or piston seal kit?

I'm hoping it isn't too hard a job to get it off and fixed as it has gone splat 3 weeks before my planned holiday again!

Can't answer you question directly, but don't forget that you might need the drier.

I was hoping to pop the dryer open and dry out the gel beads, give filter ends a clean and reuse.

I can hear the compressor running but clearly something has lost pressure cause it struggles to lift the car.
