Fairford 8-10th July

Post by Stu » Thu May 05, 2016 10:07 am

So who is up for Fairford this year?

You guys know the drill but for anyone that doesn't:

We arrive on the Friday (Farmers field) try and obtain our area, drink a few beers, have numerous BBQ's and watch the planes. Nothing too special in that, but we are right underneath the display line - it doesn't get any better than that for location. Simply perfect.

So who's coming?

I shall be in France that weekend so not this year for me, but is the field still opening this year following the crash and new regulations?

I must confess I don't know how the new rules will pan out - I wonder if the Police will prevent access to force compliance. It's not like they can move the flight line any further away from the official spectators, the planes would be obscured by the earth's curvature if they moved it any further :(

As far as I know there have been no rule changes. The Shoreham investigation and recommendations should have finished back in March and I've not heard anything suggesting there is an issue. I'll ask my man who knows!

Just checked in with my man in the know and our field is closed!

Gutted

No idea what to do now. I don't want to go into the show as I'll just be thinking about how far away from the action we are.

Lots of reports that the other campsite (Townsend) is fully booked.

There is Furzey Hill which is close to our normal field (about 200m back from the runway). But it's £80 for two days and one night camping. Seems like quite a lot? But not sure if that is per car or per person.
