Off Road Practice Day - Sibbertoft Sat 24th Sept

Dom : Signup now suspended, event is tomorrow.

Hello fellow Members, (Club Members, please use the sign up in the Members section to get Club Members Price!)

The club is offering our members a beginners instruction day, for people who have only driven on tarmac, or are unsure how to get the best out of their car, or are unfamiliar with its capabilities and limits.

One of our Members has been in discussions for us with another Land Rover club to try and arrange our using of Sibbertoft off road "pay and play" site. He's succeeded :D He's provisionally arranged for us to share the site with another club on Saturday 24 September 2016 - A Huge Thanks to Mark Y :thumbright:

This is a fantastic and fun site with a variety of obstacles ranging from the very very tame to the dear lord please do not take your D3/4 down here! (  ) The other club is also stacked with wonderfully friendly members, so it's a guaranteed good day out 8-)

There are plenty of very safe areas to practice using the controls of the car so you'll understand how and when to use them, and there will be no pressures to advance beyond your comfort zone (and that's only right as that's when the bad things can happen).

For this to work, we'll also need some experienced volunteers to show the novices around. They won't be official instructors, so what I anticipate is that the volunteers will drive the novices around in the volunteers cars to demonstrate the features and techniques.
The novices can then take their own cars onto site if they wish and they can practice, and the volunteers can advise and/or assist if needed.

Cost will be £25 per driver per day for all who sign up, and for the novices there may obviously have to be a limit depending on how many experienced volunteers we can find to show you the ropes.
* We'll be using first come first served as the selection, and at this stage can not guarantee that everyone who registers will be able to come.

Cars must be road legal, MOTd, insured, taxed and in good running order, and all drivers must be legal and have their driving licenses with them. There will also be vehicle inspections to ensure no un-stowed equipment could turn lethal in an accident, nor anything that could injure other site users.

I'll create some more detailed instructions over the coming weeks, but we will be following the "As slow as possible, as fast as necessary" mantra at all times - there will be no hooning!

So, come along and learn how to be in control off-road or even on that wet grass at the side of a narrow country lane, and make some friends whilst you're at it

Come on, roll up roll up; why cut the grass when you can be exercising your diff-locks?
