D4 / RRS Nav screen into a D3

Post by Beanie » Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:48 pm

After following a topic on the other channel, I found the time to fit my D4 nav screen.

The screen is from a D4/RRS it comes as a one piece unit with built in hard drive and maps, so no longer uses the under seat drive.

It's a simple wire up, but the screen and the mounting plate from the D3 touch screen does need adjusting to get it to fit in the space left by the D3 screen

Thought I'd share for those that do not channel hop

All fitted

And working as it should so far

Not been for a spin yet to test the positioning speed etc, but it has located where it is, so looks to be ok.

Map software is

Not sure how upto date that is??

Only one question / issue to resolve I think, it doesn't dim with lights on at night, any pointers what to connect in to get this working would be appreciated

Then it's fit the freeview TV and maybe a reverse camera

Looking good Greg :thumbright:
Are there any big advantages, or is it just because you wanted to?

Advantages are that its the newer maps than the d3, the nav also looks a lot better. Also get the phone book on the touchscreen as well. :thumbright:

I've got mine to do as well, got all the bits, just had no time over Christmas.

There were no issues with my old unit, so it's because I could really, but, newer maps and updatable, radio selection on the screen , phone contacts and touch screen dial pad on the D4 unit are two benefits so far, there's potentially others.

All the other parts you need should shortly be available. Only down side is they will be in Southampton and you'll need a good socket set. :thumbright:
