I think Ady is currently running without the duct. TBH we looked at it and couldn't see how it could really make all that much difference. What you gain or loose in airflow to the intercooler you get the opposite to the radiator...in fact, without it there is more room for air to get to the intercooler. It may be that the air encounters more resistence going that path. I'm not sure if Ady has put it back on, so maybe worth asking him what effects, if any, he has noticed?

I'm not a big fan of plastic at the best of times. The more you can take off the car the better IMHO

Of course, the intercooler is in a stupid place! Had thought about swapping it around with the radiator...but seeing as I now won't have a D3...at least for a while...that'll be on the back burner
Can't see it would make much difference to the Ford PoS I'm currently driving

I've updated the guide to include a couple of comments - minor changes.

Now version 1.2

It should be here

thanks Anglefire for the guide been helpful in extracting IC on my09, the repositioning of the fuel cooler(it's secure horisontally with 2 brackets on the IC) is the only update I would ad. What should one use to clean the inside of the IC, mines not to bad after 37k and new turbo but it's out now might as well clean it.

Do you have details of the change? If so I'll see about adding it to the guide. :thumbright:

If you mean the inside of the IC, then one thing that probably will clean it is petrol - but I'm not sure about the after effects if there is any residue left :surprise: Other than that, then not sure.

Clean with petrol :thumbright:
But make sure you leave ALL petrol vapour to evaporate before refitting and starting

So after reading this thread I'm sat here thinking that this is something I need to get done as I doubt it's been done in the 5 years my disco has been running.

I've started to read Anglefire's guide and there are a few bits I'm not sure of:

1, Average owner... not sure if I can class myself as average :P
2, Competenet in the use of tools - :censored: I'm buggered there then!!!!
3, Allow yourself 6 hours.. I'm female so surely that's a 2 hour job;)
4, Do I need to get some spare bolts/screws etc incase ? Already got the fixings for the arches from when I changed mine over a few weeks ago.

:)

Possible thing to think about as we are getting into the winter, if you enjoy the wading as I've seen a few of your pics including copious amounts of water.

You might want to consider a Radiator Muff as in colder times dipping into water can have a shock value and split a radiator. I've got one of these and here's my how to
