Removal and Replacement of Radiator

Post by anglefire » Sun Sep 04, 2011 3:43 pm

I replaced my radiator the other week - and have written a short guide on how I did it - no doubt there are things that could be done differently to make it easier, but is a first issue.

It can be downloaded from Here

Any comments/updates etc, let me know. :thumbright:

Very helpful Mark :thumbright: I would just like to add, don't use anything other than a genuine LR rad, I talk from experience  :thumbright:

Well I've had the rad and intercooler sat here for a couple of months waiting for Salisbury to pass.....
So today's the day! Will see how much more challenging it is to change it all with the winch in place!

Just wondering how much autobox fluid I'm going to lose as I don't have any spare....

Shouldn't loose much - and I have some here if you get stuck. :thumbright:

Used the guide today, works a treat....... For a 2006 vehicle.....

Mine has an extra pipe going through the intercooler to radiator gap for what I think was the power steering cooler. So that made thinks interesting!

Have got the old bits out and new bits in, just need to connect the pipe work back up tomorrow and bleed it etc as was getting too dark.

For those that are interested....

9.2kg rad muddy
6.8kg rad new

5.4kg ic muddy
3.5kg ic new

So I've been carrying around an additional 4.3kg of mud that's stuck in the fins of both of these. No wonder I've been low on power and economy!!

Will report back when I get everything back together tomorrow, off out for a few beers and the Christmas lights switch on whilst the girlies are away pre Christmas pampering. :thumbright:
