I think the 4x4 Response will die in a few more seasons. BIG media report here in the SE that's led to the Police and NHS not going to use them this Winter. We will have to wait and see, but that's what's being published.

Depends when he got his license to what he can carry. If you passed you're test after April 2010 then you need a seperate licence to drive the DAF, prior to that he can drive it and carry 3500kg without it effecting his license.

I thought those of us prior to 97 could drive up to 7.5 tons?

Yes, but those after 2010 will need a reintroduced LGV 3 license. And rightly so IMHO as its a completely different way to drive with Air clutch/suspension/ and more important brakes.

I suspect that is where the 1.2 tonnes came from Stu - 6.3 for the truck, leaving 1.2 payload.

No, its a 7.5t DAF, he can carry 3500kg without worry on his license. Even twin wheel base transits can carry the same.

I want something like that as a camper but my missus isn't having it! :headbang:

And to be fair with a house to modernise/renovate I haven't got the time to convert one!

They can also in Comunications body's James, or even a REME mobile workshop version. The ones being demobbed now have served in the Gulf and Afganistan so will be insulated and have Aircon to the body's. Well worth looking at as its a blank canvas.
