D3 TO D4 COMPLETE FACELIFT

Post by MMJ-D3 » Wed Oct 23, 2013 7:25 pm

Hello folks!

I'm looking to fully facelift the exterior of my D3 to D4 spec.

Sourcing the parts piece at a time but just thought I'd ask if anyone on here has done the conversion and if so could anyone share some tips & advice?

Many thanks in advance.

Bob

There was an article about it in LRO a while back. I think a few on here have done a few bits, but not sure anyone has done the whole thing. It will be interesting to watch, I hope you post plenty of pics.

Bonnet, wings, slam panel, bumper, headlights, grill and two wing vent......that's the lot.

Does freshen the look, and makes the original D3's that are untouched more desirable. I wouldn't do it personally, but it's you're motor and you're choice.

For the front - don't forget the rear bumper and rear lights.

Funnily enough, in the Pyrenees I think 1/2 the cars had D3 lights and 1/2 had D4 LED's. Following several of them at different times in the dark or particularly in the rain, the LED's were not as clear to see as the D3 ones - Wazza has D3 lights, but with LED lamps - and they were 100% better than the D4 style LED's.

Just MHO, but I prefer the D3 lights.

And if you do do the conversion, don't forget to tell your insurance - it may not change your premium (That would be a first!), but if you don't it is a reason to not pay out.

I'm breaking a 4.4 V8 at present and also keeping one for myself.

Really tempted to turn the D3 I'm going to be keeping into a commercial as it's practical for work and more comfortable than the van!
