First Car..........

Post by anglefire » Sun Aug 05, 2018 2:46 pm

Looking for a car for my youngest. She would like yellow - but having seen one today, that looked good in the pictures and proved to be far from it, yellow is now just a nice to have!

Something like a Pug 107 or Citroen C1 or that sort of thing. Not too expensive - about £1500 or less - and there are several about - insurance I think will be about £1300 with a Black box.

If anyone knows of one or has something for sale that is ok - not beaten to death - mileage is not a major concern really - I'm expecting 100k or so at that price, but I would like a car that is basically straight!

Had an Aygo back in the day when commuting into Cardiff for Uni, great little car and cheap as chips to run. Had AC that wouldn’t have embarrassed an industrial freezer!!

I know she wants yellow, but to be fair the NCAP rating should be the first selection criteria; My mum had one of the small citroens and the bonnet folded when our cat jumped on it. The cat was an egyptian tabby without a smudge of excess weight. Hate to think what would have happened in a real crash.

She has a Silver one - well will do when I pick it up in the week.

It has a NACP rating of 3stars. No small car is going to be that good - or at least not in the price range I'm prepared to go to.

I recon my mum's must have had a negative rating LOL, yeah it's hard for a small one to get much higher; nice :thumbright:

The Citroen C1 and Peugeot 107 are pretty much the same car as far a I can see - NCAP used the C1 for the crash test data for the frontal zone if I read it correctly!

It will need a bit of a service - its done 124k, last documented one at 109k (I think its 20k or 2yearly) - but one owner from new the MOT history is about typical for this type of car as far as I can see - mostly with advisories of one sort or another - the odd failure - only advised on a number plate bulb out back in July - though I'm not sure who did the test if I'm honest, so make chuck it through one at my local garage.

Picked it up today - cost me £27 to insure it for the day - will be sat on the drive until Cassie passes. Taxed it once the paperwork was handed over and to make it legal! £20 for the year.

Opened the bonnet and the exhaust manifold heat shield has Toyota stamped on it!

So I thn essentially, the 107, C1 and Aygo are all the same!

Runs nice though - very sewing machine like! Ticks along at 70 ok!

Good little cars, and yes basically the same car, all built in Czech Rep ISTR.

Here’s our old long gone one with her big brothers.

Cassie’s has air con too - as you say freezes the balls on a brass monkey!

A particularly excellent choice Mark. Now on my 8th Peugeot. Does it have a wine compartment in the boot? :-o
